Buffy EllsworthBuffy Ellsworth is an Assistant Professor of Physiology at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale.

Dr. Ellsworth joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 2007 after completing a five-year postdoctoral fellowship in human genetics at the University of Michigan Medical School. Ellsworth earned her doctorate degree in cell and molecular biology at Colorado State University in Fort Collins and her master's in biology and bachelor's degrees in chemistry and microbiology at South Dakota State University in Brookings.

Dr. Ellsworth is a 2004 recipient of the National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award for individual postdoctoral fellowships.
