United in Baldness

On Thursday, March 4th, professor Stuart Patterson, student Sarah Hall, and alumnus Eric Nicholson ('73) participated in a St. Baldrick's event on the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology. They joined over 106,000 volunteers to date from across the globe who have shaved their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer.

Together the three raised more than a thousand dollars. However, Eric's contribution may be the most impressive: he had been growing his hair for more than twenty years. His hair even survived chemotherapy during his own fight with cancer 5 years ago. Eric was even able to give back twice by bagging the clipped pony tail to donate his hair.
