Shimer Welcomes New Director of Admission

Amy PrittsShimer College is pleased to welcome Amy Pritts as the College’s new Director of Admission. Amy brings great experience and commitment to a core curriculum and the Great Books, which will help Shimer continue to grow.

Amy’s previous experience includes serving as Admissions Counselor at the University of Dallas, a private liberal arts university that has a core curriculum based on the Great Books. She joined the University of Dallas in a critical juncture of its history when enrollment was on the decline. Through an increased focus on prospect management and personal interaction, the admission team secured the three largest classes in the University’s history.

“I am excited to welcome Amy to Shimer. I am impressed with not only her knowledge but her commitment to the Great Books. I believe she will be a great asset in the efforts to spread the good news to prospective students about the unique and ennobling education that Shimer offers.” says President Thomas Lindsay.

Amy also has firsthand knowledge and respect for the Great Books, having completed her undergraduate degree, as well as her Masters in Business Administration at the University of Dallas. Most recently, Amy had been focusing on non-profit management, serving as Corporate Engagement Coordinator at the North Texas Food Bank.

“I’m excited to be working with students who crave the kind of transformative education that expands beyond the ‘acquisition of factual knowledge.’ I look forward to speaking with prospective students about the advantage of a Shimer education that encourages critical thinking and questioning, which sustain a life-long passion for learning.”

Shimer College, the Great Books College of Chicago, provides a liberal education in a setting of small seminar-style classes where students read and discuss the original works of history’s greatest thinkers.
