The goal of the Shimer College Alumni Association is to help organize, connect, and
engage alumni with each other and with Shimer. The Association is first
a network for alums. The Association works to help plan social and
networking events for alumni, which may include area reading groups,
receptions with Shimer staff, or alumni dinners. Alumni are also
encouraged to take a more active role in supporting Shimer through
helping to find internship opportunities for students, talking with
students regarding prospective careers, and speaking with admitted students.
Every Shimer alum is a member and there are no dues! Alumni may decide
for themselves how involved they want to be with the Association and
its events, whether attending an occasional social gathering or getting
involved in the Association's leadership. To help distribute the work
of the Association and increase involvement throughout the country, the
Association is managed by the Director of Alumni Relations and an Alumni Board of Directors consisting of regional and at-large alumni directors. Officers include
President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Past-President.
