Summer Research and Scholarship Awards for Shimer Professors
Aron Dunlap, Assistant Professor of Liberal Arts, will be spending six
weeks this summer in Oxford, England as a Scholar in Residence through
the Association for Core Texts and Courses and the Oxford Study Abroad
Program. Aron will be conducting research on love and W.H. Auden,
completing resarch on a lecture/performance project of setting music to
Auden's lyrics and preparing to teach a course at Shimer entitled W.H.
Auden: Music, Poetry, and Love.
Adam
Kotsko, Assistant Professor of Humanities, will be participating in a
summer DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Faculty Seminar lead by
Professor Eric Santner entitled "Economics of Desire: Political Economy
and Libidinal Economy in German Culture and Thought."
Beverly Thurber, Assistant
Professor of Humanities and Natural Sciences, has been selected to
participate this summer in a seminar on the Iliad lead by Professors Gregory Nagy and Kenneth Scott Morrell hosted by the Council for Independent Colleges.
