The Future of the Jewish People in Five Photographs
A Talk by
Peter Temes
Monday, November 12
6:30pm
Cinderella Lounge, 2nd Floor
Peter Temes will discuss his explorations of the future of Jewish identity. He approaches his topic through five photographs, combining history, literature, and his upbringing in the Jewish communities of Brooklyn. His reflections lead him to argue for a kind of Jewish universalism rather than a single-minded focus on survival and endogamy.
Dr. Temes is Head of the Pacific Hills School in West Hollywood and
previously taught at Harvard University, The University of Chicago, and
in the Core Curriculum Great Books Program at Columbia University. He is
past president of The Great Books Foundation. His most recent book, The
Power of Purpose, has been published by Random House. |
