Accreditation Review Visit

The HLC Visiting Team spent December 5 and 6 at Shimer. The exit interview with Ed Noonan and myself took place yesterday, December 7.

During the interview, the chair of the team shared preliminary results of their visit. The team was congratulatory about what we’ve accomplished during the time we’ve been in Chicago. At the same time, the team announced that Shimer shows room for improvement in assessment and finance. Over all, the team confirmed the results of the Self study.

Although the team could not offer concrete information about Shimer’s accreditation renewal in the exit interview, it gave us good reason to believe that this visit was successful. They will be giving us guidance as we prepare for a new president.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the team’s visit a success. The team was impressed by our community in general, and, in particular, by the students with whom they interacted.
